Robert Wall
Managing Director, Sustainable Private Infrastructure
Robert Wall is the Head of Sustainable Private Infrastructure at Lazard Asset Management. In this role, Robert leads the development of the firm’s global private infrastructure investment expertise. Prior to joining Lazard in 2021, Robert worked for two leading investors in international private markets and managed investment portfolios on behalf of corporate and government pension funds and international insurers. From 2016, Robert was a partner and member of the investment committee at Federated Hermes Infrastructure and supported the development of the fund as a leader in sustainable infrastructure investing. Together with his two partners, he led a team of 20 investment professionals with investments in operating companies in the UK and Europe. Robert previously worked at Canada Pension Plan Investments for nine years in Toronto and London. As one of the founding members of the infrastructure investments team, Robert executed direct infrastructure investments in developed and emerging markets, contributed to investments in agriculture, private debt, and private equity funds, and supported the international expansion of CPP Investments. Robert has eleven years of experience as a Non-Executive Director of operating companies in the UK, Europe and Australia and as chair of holding companies. In his executive and non-executive roles, Robert has set strategy, changed management teams, expanded and retrenched internationally, driven revenue growth through acquisition and new business units, reduced operating costs, delivered major capital investments and optimised debt financings. He has also responded to whistle-blowers, cyber-attacks, litigation and safety and environmental failures. Robert’s early career was in civil engineering in the UK and New Zealand. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Canada and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
